Regarding the European Union recommendation as from July 1, 2020 Member States should start lifting the travel restrictions, we kindly inform you that Hungary for the time being, still does not allow non-EU citizens (e.g Canadian citizens) to enter the country due to the current pandemic regulations. The following restrictions stay in effect for non-EU citizens:
Starting on June 18th, 2020, there are no restrictions to enter Hungary for personal travel (by land, air or water) for:
- Hungarian citizens
- European Union citizens, EEA nationals, and Swiss citizens (with the exception of United Kingdom citizens) and
- direct relatives of the above mentioned citizens, bearing third country citizenships.
We can only provide general information regarding entering Hungary. Since there are numerous related regulations that can be applied, for detailed information please visit the Hungarian Consular Service’s website:
Non-Hungarian citizens arriving from abroad are still not allowed to enter Hungary, unless they are in possession of a positive decision allowing entrance to Hungary by the ORFK.
The request for an application of exception can only be made in Hungarian!
You may find information regarding requesting an exception on the ORFK-s website:
