How can the Honorary Consul help you?

Honorary consuls protect the interest of Hungarian citizens in trouble or distress, e.g. they can offer assistance in case of a lost, stolen or damaged passport. They are authorized to authenticate signaures and copies of documents. They can authenticate the signature on reqests for certificates of good conduct and vital statistics certificates mailed in to the Consulate General. They may receive passport applications from children under the age of 12.

In other types of cases -especially in citizenship and visa applications- honorary consuls have no authority. In these cases, please get in touch with the Ottawa Embassy or the Toronto Consulate General or the Vice Consulate of Hungary in Vancouver, even if it is only information you are seeking.
