Foreign Minister’s visit to Toronto and Vancouver - Péter Szijjártó inaugurated the Vice-Consulate of Hungary in Vancouver
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó visited Toronto on July 2 where he participated in a panel discussion at the Ukraine Reform Conference and made a national statement. On the margins of the conference the minister had several bilateral meetings. He also met with leaders of the Hungarian communities in Toronto. On July 3, Minister Szijjártó payed an official visit to British Columbia where he met the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology and the Mayor of Vancouver. The focus of the talks was on strengthening the business and trade ties between the province and Hungary. Besides the official meetings, the minister met representatives of local businesses. Minister Szijjártó had a brief exchange with the leaders of the Western Canadian Hungarian communities, including the members of the famous Sopron forestry school. As highlight of the visit the Minister Szijjártó opened the Vice Consulate of Hungary in Vancouver, the subordinated office of the Consulate General of Hungary in Toronto.
